My name is Kathleen Mackey.
I'm a filmmaker and Toronto-based media freelancer, specializing in services relating to documentary film and production/post-production coordinating, including transcribing, editing, and videography.
I'm currently an Operations Manager at The Media Concierge, a post-production company located in Toronto.
This site is home to my more artistic pursuits and developments on my film projects, including "Saving My Family Farm".
I grew up on a farm in Oshawa, Ontario and became interested in film and media after first picking up my mum’s home video camera. I completed my BFA (Honours) in Film Studies at Ryerson University where I focused on producing and documentary filmmaking.
In 2010, I graduated from the Documentary Media (MFA) program from Ryerson University with a thesis film that focused on the sale of my family's farm in Whitby, Ontario.
The project entitled "Saving My Family Farm" inspired a large-scale documentation of the farm before it disappeared and an exploration into home video, memory, family histories and changing landscapes. My focus is on making documentaries that touch on personal stories and are based on local subjects.
I'm passionate about bikes, biking, and cycling advocacy. #bikeTO #cycleON
I'm also passionate about superlambananas.
