In June, my good friend Nicole and I decided to plant a small veggie garden, located behind the house where she currently lives. It was a great chance to take a stab at growing our own food, even if was just a few items: zucchini, peppers, tomatoes, various lettuces. Admittedly, I haven't been the best gardener and only got myself over to visit the plot today. Nicole's landlord has a green thumb and has many plants of her own in the garden so I suspect she did some watering because I was surprised by what I found. The zucchini plants were huge! I harvested three zucchinis and make zucchini pancakes to celebrate (gallery below). The tomatoes seem to be doing well, the lettuce too, but the peppers I'm not so sure about. Regardless, I was over the moon to know that there was stuff in this garden that was harvestable. I really didn't know what to expect. Here's to more bounty by August's end!
